Types of Denim Fabric Washing and Finishing

Denim is really confusing at times. It is dipped, dyed, ripped and tried in various forms to create intricate washes and finishes.

Bhaskar Denim Industries, the largest denim & linen fabric manufacturers is equipped with all the necessary machines and processes to give your denim a fashionable and quirky look.  In order to produce colour fading effects of crinkles, hairiness, patchiness etc., the denim undergoes stages of evolution before reaching your closets.

Let’s figure out the differences between denim washes:

  • Stone Wash: One of the commonly known wash is stone wash. It is an effort to give your denim an aged look. To abrade the surfaces of fabric and get a colour effect, a roll of fabric is put in the washing machine along with pumice stones and both are rotated together for a longer time. The longer they are together, better and lighter the denim gets.

  •  Enzyme Wash: To improve the smoothness and softness of fabric’s surface, naturally occurring enzymes are exposed to the fabric which causes the loss of cellulose in cotton. This also fades the colour of denim and produces a stronger and sturdy fabric.

  • Sand Blasting: To achieve an abrasion effect, sand is fired at a great speed onto the fabric. An updated version of sand blasting is- micro sanding where the denim fabric is brought in contact with chemically coated rollers. It also rubs off the colour fibres.

  • River Wash: When stone washing and enzyme washing processes are brought together, they create a much better wash-effect. River washing is a two-stage process where enzymes are introduced after the pumice stones. This wash brings out a true aged effect on the denim.

  • Acid Wash: Acid wash is considered as one of the oldest washes in denim. Acid wash is achieved by soaking the pumice stones in acid or bleach. Then the fabric is processed in machine with the pumice stone liquid. This brings a unique finish in the denim.

Hope you have made out the differences in denim wash after reading this. Try out any of the washes from the wide portfolio of Bhaskar Denim and flaunt style, your way.

Denim Fabric in summer: Look Hot, Stay Cooler

Fashion comes and goes, weather also changes with time but one thing which remains constant is your wardrobe, stuffed with pairs of denims. Isn’t it?

Denim fabric, worn in any season, summer, winter or monsoon and in any way for e.g., jeans, shorts, skirt, or jacket, always keeps you cool.

Denim in summer is a true delight...Trust us.
Are you thinking of leaving your denim jeans alone this summer? Do you think your jeans will not be able to bear the heat? We must say you are wrong.
There are always few better ways to wear denim jeans in summer which you should follow.

a.      Distress and De-stress: Cool breezes chilling you from the rugged patches of your denim jeans, what else calls for an icy-cool summer? If you want to invite more of airflow, rug off one of your old jeans and team it up with a bright coloured tee, or a v-neck top.

b.      Do not stretch: Stretched denim is not at all acceptable for rising temperatures. Try to wear cotton. Due to the fibre used in stretched denim, it will make it difficult for you to keep away the hot air off your legs.

c.       Go raw: Team up your denim stock with vibrant coloured T-shirts with printed graphics. Prefer a thin-collared shirt or top and wear it with one of your favourite un-stretched denim. Show-off your colour-sense by opting cool-looking colours like- sky blue, mustard, mint, cobalt, white etc.

d.      Turn -it –up:  A rolled up jeans with one or two folds will make you flaunt your style quotient among people around you as well as it will help you invite some cool air to keep you fresh.

e.      Loosen- up: We agree many of us do not like it loose. In any way. But, trying a loose jeans with a tight fitted shirt or t-shirt will exhibit your fashion-statement like no-other. And to a great advantage, it will keep-off from sticking to your legs and will help your legs breathe.
